Several of Costa Rica's national parks and reserves are easy day trips from the Iguanazul. Two hours to the north, Rincón de la Vieja National Park offers a volcano, hot springs, mud baths, great hiking, jungle canopy tours and horseback riding. The Barra Honda Caves about an hour south of us are a spelunker's dream come true. What better way to get a little break from the sun than to go underground? Speaking of sun, almost all of Guanacaste's great beaches are easy to visit in one day. You can go north as far as Playa del Coco and south to Playa Sámara. 

Playa Ostional, an hour south, is a nesting ground for the Ridley turtles. This tour is highly recommended if your timing is right. They come to nest about once a month and you can contact us for an approximate schedule. An hour north, Playa Grande is home to the giant Leatherbacks. The Turtle Museum there offers nightly tours throughout the season.
