Costa Rica surfing
beaches
Costa Rica is a country
that is made for almost every surfer. Small crowds, friendly locals,
warm water, big waves and low prices: what else could you need? The Northwestern
Pacific Coast is arguably the finest region for surfing. Here waves of all sizes, for beginners and experts
break all year long.
 Along this coastline there
are many spots, both remote and close, that pick up swells all year round.
The summer brings more swells than the winter, but offshore winds are much
stronger from December to April. The weather and the water are warm
for most of the year, most likely you won’t need any type of wetsuit.
Little hint: you will probably get better rates in the summer which is the
Costa Rican “Green Season.”
 When you come to Costa
Rica, try to bring a ding kit as repair shops are sparse. Bring
straps for your car since the rental companies often do not have them.
Also, bring a first aid kit and a lot of powerbars. Always bubble
wrap or pad your board in its bag. It is usually a good idea to get
a pocket surf map and plan your trip before coming down, although at the
hotel we can point you in the direction of most of the breaks. |
